When does the body become catabolic ?

about 24-28 hours of no food with begin the process of eating away at muscle. after about 72 hours you will go into ketosis and the body will switch to fat

but if you are that worried about losing muscle in that short time frame then you never had it to begin with. someone with a lot of muscle mass should experience this as the weak and old muscle tissue can burn away and be replaced with better ones

there is no such thing as just being anabolic forever. you will end up dead as a door nail at a young age if you try that. it is completely natural for the body to have fast and famine stages. your body actually spikes cortisol after a stressful situation for a good reason after your workouts.

the amazing thing about the whole 'catabolic' thing is every pro athlete on earth has an offseason which flies in the face of this entire logic. bodybuilders are so damn scared of losing muscle that they think they need to avoid catabolism at all costs. it is a mental disease called bigorexia and it has killed many in the industry including Piana and dallas mc

you have to throw that logic out the window and accept that you need to take 2 steps forward and 1.9 steps back. you don't just traject upwards like magic.. does anyone really beleive that Tom Brady in June is going to be better than the Tom Brady in Febuary when the super bowl is? if that was the case he would have been gone from the league his first year. just like any pro sport, in bodybuilding or powerlifting whatever you peak on the day you need to peak.. you don't peak 365 days of the year!
