What to eat before a workout

I had a smoothie which was a bunch of fruit and protein before my workout. I did my legs and they're in my work and I had to run to the bathroom to throw up
I was under the impression this stuff was good for you so why does it make me sick
I've asked this question a lot but no one answers me what am I supposed to eat before a workout
 
i do a protein shake and creatine before training with some glutamine
dont worry about getting sick with a protein shake
 
a smoothie is a horrible idea before a tough workout. all those ingredients mashed up means the body has to work very hard to process it all and spit out so many enzymes at once.

best thing before a workout is something like brown rice or fruit. something very light

i personally train fasted
