Question About Carb Intake

No Carbs Post-Workout?

Hello everyone.........

This is my first post here so hopefully what I ask won't be too monotonous...........anyhow, I normally take Dextrose post-workout but due to a medical condition, I must cut simple sugars out of my diet as much as possible...........would it be detrimental to my overall energy if I just cut them out of the post-workout meal, which would leave me with no carbs post-workout. I mean, if my overall carb count for the day is high, will it matter much. I just don't want to deprive myself of energy. thanks in advance!

Personally, I would get those carbs in post-workout - even if they're low glycemic - it will still be a benefit to your poor muscles.

When it comes to short term energy expenditure it won't make a terribly huge difference - but as far as muscle maintenance/growth is concerned, those post-workout carbs are crucial (regardless of their glycemic rating).

Low GI carbs postworkout is better than no carbs at all
