protein powders in water or milk for best absorbtion?

Sometimes I load up my shakes with milk, peanut butter, bannanas. On other ocassions I just use water and fruit. My stomach feels at peace using just the water. Since whey is derived from milk I think putting more milk in may be overload. I'm not sure
 
With the milk you are just adding fat and protein. Actually some people do not like milk (lactose-intolerant).

Water should be just fine if you don't want extra protein.
 
If you are lactose intolerent you could always try Soy protein or even switch to fat free lactaid milk. I have found this to be a great help, gets rid of the gas face:alien:
