Unfortunately, it will differ for different substances, since they will have different densities.

For instance, oil would have far fewer milligrams per teaspoon than granulated lead

ok, i was told to take 1-2 tablespoons of flax seed oil per day. i have the pills which are 500mg. just wondering how many pills would be 2 tablespoons.

It would take 50-60 500mg capsules to equal 2 tablespoons oil. In other words, there is around 14g of oil per tablespoon.
