EAS Myoplex Low Carb Protein Bar

TheBigDog

New member
It claims to have 3g of carb. However, the cal. doesn't add up.

Carb: 3g
Protein: 30g
Fat: 6g

which should sum up to 186 cal. The wrapping says 250 cal.

There is a small print that says..

"Glycerine, maltitol, sorbitol and oligofructose are included in the total calorie count, but are not included as carbohydrates."

Is this a scam? How can they "optionally" opt out those ingredients for carb? Or am I missing something....

Please advice.

They should be changng the nutrition facts soon because the fda figured it confused the consumer, that is why most newer bars have a bigger number which states ___ impact carbs. Some bars and low carb items have sugar alcohols insead of sugar in them. These sugar alcohols (such as Glycerine, maltitol, sorbitol ) generally do not spike insulin so they are subtracted just like fiber. Thats is why while in keto sometimes people can get away with eating sugar alcohols. Ive read that your body can not digest them.. which is why it may keep some in the bathroom. :D

The remaining calories ( in your bars case = 54) take and divide by 4. Which is about 14 - 15 grams or glycerine or some sugar alcohol. I just count them as carbs and try not to eat bars when cutting.
