do artificial sweeteners spike insulin?

i'm wondering if artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, nutrasweet, etc... spike insulin or not? there are no calories and no sugar, yet they are much more sweet than sugar.. i'm just thinking it must spike insulin and therefore halt liposis. how about sweeteners found in sugar-free chewing gum?

Any spike in insulin would be non-significant, unless of course, you out do yourself and REALLY load up. I'd personally be more worried about the side-effects of aspartame if consumed in great amounts...

I stay away from that crap anyway, unless of course it's diet coke. Diet just seems to go better when you eat natural foods.
