Corn on the cob vs sweet potatoe - is it ok to mix it up?

So can you substitute your sweet potato for corn on the cob once in a while?

Both I believe are complex carbs....

Corn: 1 large earTotal Carbs 27gFiber 4g
Sugars 8g

Sweet Potatoes: 8oz
Total Carbs 46g
Fiber 7.5g
Sugars 19g

The macros look about identical when it comes to 2 large ears of corn or one 8oz sweet potato.

Shed some light on this for me because I love both... and would like to continue eating both if possible.

eat 30% corn and 70% sweat potato. i wouldnt consider corn a complex carb.

There's alot of generalization that occurs with corn - people immediately think that since it's a starch, it's going to spike insulin levels. What I have found in real world results is that while corn is a starch, and it is relatively carb dense, it still is a very slow burning carb. I wouldn't be affraid to mix it in here or there for that reason.
