Coaching?

How many of you use a coach for diet/training?

How many are self coached?

No offense, but please only answer if you really compete!

Thx! ;)

If your seeking a coach which I think is a good idea for competitors in any kind of comp, find a coach that knows how to get where you wanna be from experience. If your serious about competing at a high level your going to need another experienced person to guide you.

I think its good to have another experienced point of view and eyes. Sometimes are view of ourselves gets flawed and it helps to have a fresh perspective. I dont doubt that you couldnt proceed successfully on your own, but I would keep some supportive people around to keep me accountable.

Ok. That's helpful. Thx

Hey girl....just realized I owe you a pm!! I'm so behind I think I'm ahead lately. lol

I would agree with joeblow and for me, personally, I believe a coach is a good idea, especially going into the first show. You just don't know what you don't know and a coach to help guide you with all the little details that makes a world of difference. I think, too, as you get closer to a show, your self perspective changes. I remember feeling sooo fat and then soooo flat etc etc and your perspective just becomes warped. The support from someone who's been there is huge!

The one thing, though, that I've thought about as I consider competing again is this. As I've evolved in knowledge and experience, my philosophies have evolved and there is such a wide range of show prep opinions, methods etc. With someone like yourself, who has the knowledge and experience, I think it's important to find someone who subscribes to similar philosophies. There are certain things I did for my first show that I wouldn't do again. Certain diet methods I know through trial and error won't work for me. The other thing you can do is find a coach for posing/ show prep but do the diet yourself. The mental stuff about 6 weeks out, though, is brutal and it's always good to have someone doing the thinking for you.

Just my thoughts! :)

I am a coach/ pre contest specialist as well, and when i get ready for a competition i do have my own prep guy ! i just dont want to think about anything, like our clients need us to guide them, i too need that worry free guidance. im sure we could go about it ourselves and do ok, but i just like the piece of mind knowing i can rely on someones expertise even when my bodyfat gets very low and your mind starts playing trick on you so to speak, LOL
