Why do different kinds of people like different kinds of music?

I never could figure this out.

Obviously most people have more than one type of music they like, but does a particular like of one genre say something about the person?

If anybody could shed some light on this, especially on different genres I would be very happy

damn im a family man and i love death metal lol anything heavy i love but i like slow songs also, i like most every kind of music except country

but theres obviously things that people like in one genre of music than are the same of other people
