What crime has the best Cost-Benefit ratio

If you were (hypothetically) going to commit a crime which has the best Cost - Benefit ratio.

Cost = Risk of getting caught + Severity of the punishment
Benefit = Money

One that comes to mind is cheating on ones taxes. The punishment is fairly light, and there is a definite reward.

I'd shy away from banks. That's federal shit, and the FBI are a lot smarter, and have much greater resources than a cop, or it's invesitigators.

Therefore, if I was going to rob something... grocery store. Go in there with a few people, take the $$$ from each register, right after it's been busy, busy shopping.

That'd be me. :)

steal passwords and hack online bank accounts

Not bad, but like physically robbing a bank, that is a fairly big federal offense. Plus there may be a way to track the transactions
