It's so refreshing to read constructive discourse
on guns in an internet chat room.
(NOT)
Canadians and Europeans can't understand the American obsession with guns, and I can't understand it myself, with or without the 2nd amendment. Reading these "exchanges" reminds me of Hunter Thompson's dog in "Fear & Loathing". All you have to do is yell, "LIBERAL!" or "GUN CONTROL!" and they start snarling and foaming at the mouth. Fine, go ahead and threaten people with bogeymen coming in through the window who are RIGHT NOW raping our children, but that doesn't begin to address the issue.
Why are our homicide rates 10-20 times anybody elses in the developed world? Why do we have so many (legal and illegal) guns around? How do we start doing something about gun violence? Make everything illegal? (right.) Arm every man, woman & child over 6 with a 22? (yeah, right. That'll solve ALL our problems.) Once we start asking real, practical questions about guns and gun violence in the US, and stop baying like attack dogs, perhaps the difficult questions can start to get settled.
