Is New Zealand on the road to poverty?

With the advent of more free trade and trade embargos with the US & EU, does New Zealand run the risk of fading into nothingness? Their economy is largely based on international trade, with the war, and situations like this new Zealands puppy dog economy will take a hit. Even if they continue to steal our technology or economic principles they will still take a hit. The rich will get richer & the poor will get poorer, leading to ogliarchy.

Do you think that New Zealand is on the road to being a impoverished, irrelevant, backwards, quasi-international ogliarchy by the year 2025?

Opinions for and against anyone?

Well...ogliarchy sounds like a terrible thing.

bye bye equality and 20th century respect for individualism, hello corporate dictatorship of the Proletariat due to free trade and a puppy dog economy.

Of course they will continue to take US made economic principles and technology to further their economy but they will still lag behind.

God damn it people, i spent 4 minutes researching the New Zealand economy. The least you can do is humor me.

Exports - partners:
Australia 20.4%, US 14.5%, Japan 13.5%, UK 5.4%, South Korea, China (2000)

Imports - partners:
Australia 22.5%, US 17.5%, Japan 11%, UK 4%, China, Germany (2000)

Uh oh, New Zealands 4 biggest import/export partners supported the war in Iraq. Looks like 50% of their trade partners may end up giving them the shaft if things like the EU-US trade embargo keep up between the pro & anti US sides of the planet.
