Infantile amnesia.

don't know - elements of kids psyches aren't even supposed to be fully joined until age 2-3 (ie, they are somewhat similar to people who are schitzo)
that said I believe I remember a few small things from when I was 2....
also people have a very strong tendency to "manufacture" memories....
if they have heard stories or seen pics from that period - they can/will manufacture a memory and "think they remember it"
this same thing happens with adults an makes "witnesses" to events a very tricky matter....
