How strong do you have to be to lift the back end of a small car?

I want to be able to do this badly to something small like an old bug or something.

Around how much do you need to deadlift/static hold to be able to pull this off? I tried when I was 18 in the parking lot at school but I didn't even come close, only got the frame up about 4-5 inches.

I'D SAY YOU HAVE TO BE ATLEAST AS STRONG AS THE GUYS IN THE PRO STRENGHT COMPS ARE. THEY SEEM TO DO IT ON T.V. QUITE OFTEN BUT ITS NOT EASY. CALL ME CRAZY, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THE AVERAGE WEIGHTLIFTER/BODYBUILDER CANNOT DO THIS.

you'd probalby have to do calculus or algebra to figure out the distance from the front axle to the bumpers, while using the front axle as a pivot to determine the weight. I don't know how to do the calculations, but here is a guesstimate.

a beetle is 2,919 pounds. Overall length 160.7 inches. wheelbase 98.8 inches. So i would guess roughly 130 inches from the rear bumper to the front axle, and 30 inches from the front axle to the front bumper.

Guesstimating, that would be roughly 547 lbs. But weight isn't distributed evenly on a car, alot of weight is in the engine area. I don't know if beetles still have the engine in the back or if they are front now. You'd have to adjust accordingly. no way in hell could you lift the back if the engine was in back.

Keep in mind i have no idea what the hell i'm talking about.

It really depends on the car and where you are flipping it from. Picking it up from the back is fairly easy...the side is MUCH harder!!!

 Use a jack showoff!

i think lifting it from the back is easier. i remember my dad used to do it when i was a little kid. we had a small car i think, a ford escort or something.

I pulled 575 last max, next time I am feeling good and have the opportunity I'm gonna try it...maybe something small like an accent or old Miata?

Awesome Pics Bfold!
