2002 Power Rankings: Week 8
Rank Team Rec. Comment
1 Saints 6-1-0 OK, we're pretty sure that Saints fan will be happy with this ranking. It's never too late to hop on a bandwagon.

2 Chargers 6-1-0 Maybe San Diego fans can start thinking about a hometown Super Bowl.

3 Packers 6-1-0 Packers fans, you can breath now. Brett Favre should be fine when Green Bay returns to the field in two weeks.

4 Broncos 5-2-0 Wow did Sharpe's game come out of nowhere. Before Sunday he had just 24 catches for 222 yds and no TDs -- Sunday he had 12 catches for 214 yds and 2 TDs.

5 Dolphins 5-2-0 We wrote last week that Miami could breath easier with a two-game lead in the AFC East. That breathing just got a little heavier.

6 Eagles 4-2-0 It certainly wasn't pretty, but the Eagles maintained their mastery over the Buccaneers.

7 Buccaneers 5-2-0 Maybe the Bucs should just go for it and start lining up Derrick Brooks on offense.

8 Raiders 4-2-0 Apparently Sebastian Janikowski can't kick any straighter than he can drive.

9 49ers 4-2-0 Anybody who thought Sunday's showdown with the Cardinals would be for first in the NFC West raise your hand.

10 Bills 4-3-0 We're not saying the Patriots shouldn't have traded Drew Bledsoe, but they might be questioning where they traded him.

11 Steelers 3-3-0 A win over the Ravens will put the Steelers clearly in control of the AFC North.

12 Patriots 3-3-0 Should be interesting to see what New England's coaching staff came up with during the bye week.

13 Colts 4-2-0 Peyton Manning's feet were just a little too happy Monday night.

14 Cardinals 4-2-0 That was a really ugly win over the Cowboys. But a win is a win -- we guess.

15 Ravens 3-3-0 Winning without Ray Lewis had to be a big morale boost for the Ravens.

16 Chiefs 3-4-0 It's getting old to say, but their defense can't stop anybody.

17 Falcons 3-3-0 Michael Vick is just a flat out freak. If he can stay healthy, he's going to do some amazing things in his career.

18 Jaguars 3-3-0 At 3-3, the Jags are still in the playoff race in a weak division. But they have to win games when Fred Taylor rushes for 158 yards.

19 Rams 2-5-0 Question for anybody who thinks the Rams are rated too high -- would you want your team playing them right now?

20 Giants 3-3-0 If the Giants can score more than 10 points Monday against the Eagles, it would be a moral victory.

21 Browns 3-4-0 It's been a rocky season so far in Cleveland, but the Browns are still right in the middle of the playoff race.

22 Cowboys 3-4-0 It's set up pretty well for Emmitt to break the record at home. Ninety-three yards to break it and facing a Seattle defense that gives up almost 190 yards rushing per game.

23 Bears 2-4-0 As beat up as Chicago is, it's going to be hard to turn the season around.

24 Titans 2-4-0 McNair and George are always beat up, so we're sure they enjoyed the bye week.

25 Panthers 3-4-0 The defense is good enough to contend, but the offense clearly has some work to do.

26 Jets 2-4-0 With Chad Pennington under center, at least Jets fans have something to be excited about if the playoffs are out of reach.

26 Redskins 2-4-0 It's officially time to say that the Redskins defense was vastly overrated heading into the season.

28 Lions 2-4-0 We'd like to ask Matt Millen what eating a shoe tastes like.

29 Seahawks 1-5-0 At least the Seahawks will have a nation watching this weekend as Emmitt Smith tries to break the rushing record.

30 Vikings 1-5-0 What happened to the Daunte Culpepper from 1999 who threw 33 TDs and only 16 INTs in 2000.

31 Texans 1-5-0 David Carr has to play, but it doesn't do Houston's future any good if he gets hurt. And if he keeps getting sacked like this, he's going to get hurt.

32 Bengals 0-6-0 Probably about as good a Sunday as Bengals fans will have all season.
