are they any good for you engine? the kind you pour in that say they will help prolong the life of your engine and add horsepower. or is it just a rip off? or is oil changes the only thing you can do for your engine? hammy dont know chit about cars so help him out

Most of them are a rip off. Regular oil changes with quality oil are the best thing you.
What kinda vehicle, how many miles?

at 40k it dosent need anything buy regular oil an filter change, about every 3 to 4 thousand miles depending on driving conditions, most of those engine treatments are a ripoff anyway.

In a car that new I'd go with a syntetic, like mobil1 or amsoil. Get a good filter like a wix gold. That car will last along time.

I agree with the above -- don't waste any money on snake-oil additives, just use a good synthetic oil like Mobil 1 5w30. And the Wix filters are good. BTW, NAPA filters are made by Wix.

Don't waste money on synthetic oil for a Celica. Just change the oil and filter every 3k. That motor will run forever. Have a qualified shop check the timing belt, and normal wear items. You'll be fine.....
