DSS dishes going to radioshack to buy one need advice

so today i am going to buy a dss dish at radio shack because my friend works there and i get a discount. what model should i buy

What you need to get will be a model with a dual lnb model. A dual lnb is a model that has two cables coming off the dish so you can hook up an additional receiver to your house later on if you want to. You will be able to watch different channels on each receiver .Make sure you get a model with a 32 bit converter so the speed will be faster when you change channels.I have one old receiver and when I change the channel it takes a moment for the picture to come in.I have a sony now and I got it from www.800.com for $99 plus shipping and it's awsome.The old receivers had a card in them that was BLUE and you could have them programed for like $100 and you could get every channel and it is amazing!The only problem is direct t.v has been sending down a signal to knock out the cards and you will have to get it reprogrammed but I had mine for 2 years and my buddy would hook me up everytime it went out.RCA makes a nice receiver and SONY, HUGHES and their are several more. If you are a first time subscriber what they are doing is making you get a certain package for like 21 bucks for a year but as a newbie you will receive 1 month free every channel so you can make your mind up about what channels or package you want to subscribe to later on.I beleive they are too expensive for what they offer but you can still buy the 'old cards" on ebay for less than $100 so talk to your friend about it and see if he has a contact.GOOD LUCK and if you have any questions let me know. my advice... dont go to radio shack!!!other than that, if you have a 1bedroom apt, just get the single line, if you want it hooked up to 2 tv's and get different channels on them, dual line... other than that just get the newest receiver possible... the new ones have a view screeen built in to the program guide, so you can still watch tv while looking for something else to watch!!!j

It is better to have the dual lnb and be able to upgrade than have to buy a splitter for the dish and take it apart and hook it up.It is not but a few extra dollars and you are going to get a fat rebate from direct tv anyway so get it and you wont be sorry. RADIO SHACK REALLY SUCKS but if you have a connection well make use of it and save some money.GET the latest high tech model they have so you wont have to upgrade later.I am going to look into the big dishes again because my buddy has one and he said hewill never go back to dtv again because he gets so much more.The porn on dtv is a rip off unless you have a programmed card and if you get one you just get the lowest package you can and DO NOT PLUG THE TELEPHONE LINE INTO THE RECEIVER EVER!!YOU WILL GET A BILL FOR A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS AND THEY CAN BAN YOU FROM EVER RECEIVING DTV.As far as the hot cards be careful who you deal with and always wait for your card to get programmed and write down the serial number of your card somewhere so you do not get taken by some asshole! DISH NETWORK SUCKS SO DO NOT BOTHER WITH IT! THE big dishes are the way to go and you pay less and get more.I remember when you had to pay for 1 whole year of service up front for direct tv and the only reason they have so many customers is that they had to lift that pay in full bullshit for the year.Also if you want to get your local channels so you do not have to use an antennae when dtv asks you if you ever had cable t.v SAY NO! IFthey ask if cable is available tell them NO!! If you answer yes they can say you are not allowed to get the local stations so be ready.It may of changed but hell we used to watch the news in nyc,san jose , chicago,tennesse and all the rest! get ready to surf the channels because there are sooo many!! good luck.
