Makes alot of sense IMO. but i dont agree with it.
If your banning illicit drugs, that cause health problems, then certainly trans-fats should be gone as well.

Really erks me.
If i want to eat a cheeseburger,i should be able to eat a cheeseburger.
And i dont want to have a grocery bill thats 2x as expensive because i have to pay for marked up trans-fat free products that are more expensive to produce.

Would you agree with this if healthcare was privatized? Seems with the socialist type of healthcare Canada has, the government is only protecting what it provides to their citizens. I can see where they are coming from if they are trying to same money due to the rising number of obesity related illnesses

Bor its legalize drugs, ban hamburgers. Where does the cognitive disconnect with liberals occur? Someone should find a cure.

The "societal interest" bullshit has always been just that man. The fact is smokers, obese people, etc live much shorter lifespans and if anything are a financial windfall for society because they are unlikely to ever reap in benefits the amount they paid in.

Inane proponents will show health care costs for "lung cancer" or "heart disease" and say see this is costing us cash. Lets tax them to death.

What they fail to emntion is the accrued savings from shorter life spans which generally far outweigh those costs.

In additioon, no one dies from being healthy. WE may live anither 10-20 years, but eventually some illness or disease will claim usd, and when it does, the health care costs are just as high as if it had happened earlier.

So in the end these people are net plus to society

It saves money on health care, and healthcare is something that is collectively paid for in canada.
