    potassium is a necessary mineral we need. you also need to balance it with magnesium, salt, etc.

    you should never overdose on it and you should be consuming a balanced diet which would already contain lots of minerals and vitamins.

    As Steve says it should be in your diet. Both over doing and depletion (via diuretics for example) can cause really serious problems

    Potassium is a very important electrolyte. It's essential for muscle contractions. Your body keeps potassium and sodium in a very precise ratio.

    The problem is that most people get WAY too much sodium and not enough potassium.

    You don't need to supplement with potassium. Just eat plenty of fruits and vegetables each day. Fruits and vegetables are chalk full of potassium!

    I wouldn't supplement with potassium as your body needs a nice balance with it and sodium. You will get enough if you eat a proper diet.
