Lipokinetix warning

I'm here at work this morning & reading the paper when I come across this article saying that the FDA has just issued a warning on the dietary supplement Lipokinetix. It seems that this supplement has been blamed for poisoning the livers of at least 6 people. The victims, ages 20 to 32, suffered liver failure or acute hepatitis after taking Lipokinetix for 2 weeks to 3 months.

Just a heads up for everyone.

Yeah - they have a new version out called Adipokinetix....and they don't even produce the Lipo formulation anymore...

...but obviously there are bottles of it floating around here and there...so I guess the warning stands...

...although the FDA is also adamantly against the use of plain old ephedrine HCL...so I'd take their warnings with a grain of salt...

I saw the warning on CNN's ticker last night.

One ingredient in Lipo in usnic acid. It has a similar effect as DNP-a mitochondrial uncoupler. Usnic acid supposedly has some nastier sides though. I don't know about liver failure, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Thanks for the info bro, I had not heard that....I agree with Stryc-9 though and would take anything the FDA says with a grain of salt.

Two syntrax products on the same page, it seems pretty obvious to me that the FDA has some sort of beef with syntrax. Maybe it is because syntrax's products create a competition toward certain pharmcuetical companies, like derek C said on that interview at powerstore. I'm usually weary of what that guy says, but this seems claim seems to have some legitimacy.

Here are some links to some interesting stuff:

Whether or not those products are harmful is of no care to me, I would rather privately pay for some weekly consumeralert digest than depend on the FDA(very biased and fascist in my opinion).

Yea, the FDA has a beef with them. Because they were putting Sodium Usniate in their product, and selling thyroid hormones. Yeah, I think the FDA has a problem with that.

6 people out of how many? thousands of people took it yet 6 people are having problems the only reason there talking about it because the media /fda loves to trash supplaments , hell on ER last night they had a patient who died from ephedra acording to dr green " the dangerous sports supplament" ya know how many people probably die from otc meds every year (liek aspirine) proably like a 100 but you dont hear about it because its not a sports supplament

You're exactly right.

In honor of the FDA, I'd like to offer to buy Lipok from anyone who has a stash, at a reasonable offer (someone offered to sell for $60 once, but that wasn't my price. Make it better than that, and I'm in! PM me)
