Expired Protein

I've had an unused bottle of protein sitting around for a while and the expiration date is 01/01
Could I or should I still use it?
Or should I just junk it?

Is it UNOpened?
Has it been in a cool dry place?
Does it smell OK?

It is a food stuff and I would look at the above and If 2 out of 3 are yes, Eat IT...
