what is it about short ester test that causes less water retention than long esters?

most people that have used both will tell you that the shorter esters cause less water retention, but i am at a loss as to why this is. i have been thinking about it, and have only managed to come up with one theory, that is probably a mile off anyway lol.
so, what do you know?

yeah, thats what i was sort of thinking, as it is in your system for less time, it doesnt have as much time in to aromatise. thanks.
