Weighing Foods

When determing how much protein, carbs, fats and the rest do you weigh your food after or before cooking.

I would think that it would be after, but wanted to verify if by others.

most of the nutritonal info is on a certain amount of food say 4oz so if you are watching closely you would want to weigh the amount you are going to injest

I write down all the Ingredients & amount that I put in the meal, than calculate the caloric intake. You can get one of those charts that tell you how many calories each food is carb/fat/pro.

I had the same question. When I make chicken I'll weigh out 3 breast which is usually 24oz for 2 meals but when I'm done microwaving them they weigh about 15oz.

I think they usually lose a lot of water. Anyone know for sure when to weigh.

I’m curious why do you weigh your food,

I find it hard to take in enough calories and protein,

Real protein, I could drink shakes until I turn blue,

But Chicken Tuna, Steak, Fish, ToFu, I eat it all day long, Still hungry.

I weigh all my meat portions.... For my carbs I can eye 1/2 servings pretty easily so thats not as much of an issue.

All of my chicken and steak gets portioned at 8oz and frozen

*edit- that was supposed to mean 1 or 2 servings
