Validity of stacking?

Have there been any scientific studies conducted that actually prove stacking two or more drugs together gives you a higher rate of achieving your goals as oppsed to say just upping the dose of one drug and solely taking it? I have always stacked so it's not like I am saying it's wrong but I was just wondering.
