muscle soreness

anyone know why as the frequency of lifting decreases, muscle soreness increases. isnt the tissue damage the same, and the acid buildup the same regardless of the frequency of exercise?

Your body builds more of a resistance the more you do something. If your lifting on and off your body is not getting used to it and so therefore it takes longer to recover.

;) yep...

YUM

its not about the length of recovery. its about the intensity of the soreness. by your statement i guess we should all workout each bodypart everyday? then your body would recover faster and you would be huge right?????

just answer the ? please

does anyone know?

Adaptation....The whole function on which training is based around. Your body adapts the the training load and it no longer causes the same microtrauma it once did. Your body also becomes better at repairing the damage that is caused. A trainined anthelete not only can work at higher intnsities/duratioon, but can recover much faster than a couch potato.

Soreness is not any indication of working a muscle well, or of new growth to come. When you work the muscle on a regular basis (this doesn't mean every day, but at least once every 7 days), and you get used to doing high workloads, and you get sore less. Once you start taking a week or two, or more off, your body isn't used to it anymore.

What's with all these "make it sore and grow like a weed!" posts? Such bs.
