How should I approach a doctor for getting blood work done without getting any BS?

I tried to get my thyroid checked a while back since I was thinking about getting T3, I asked the doctor to roll it into the STD test I was getting since they were drawing blood anyway. I told them I didnt have a regular sleep cycle and was feeling sluggish all the time just to give them an excuse to check it. They wouldnt do it. Now how the hell am I supposed to go into a doctors office and ask them to check my Test, cholesterol, liver and kidney values without raising eyebrows? They always want to know "whats wrong with you that you need those things to be tested?" I cant just say Im using steroids and want it checked without getting a lot of shit from the docs then they just tell me to get off the stuff without testing me. How do I get this done?
