Getting rid of love handles

I have love handles. Is their any way to get rid of them or is it once you have them you're fucked. I was thinking lots of cardio, good diet, running, and lots of ab work in addition to my lifting.

hard workout diet and squat til you puke and this should melt em off. It works for me anyways.
