Getting blood work done in canada

Since we canucks don't pay for medical services, would I be able to go to my doctor and get blood work done just because I want it?

Yes you would. I went to my doc and asked for blood work and he asked me what I wanted checked and I went down stairs, got it done and had the results in a week. God bless Canada

I went to my doc to talk about gear (totally off the record) and man did he ever look pissed and insulted that i would even ask him about it, however he did ask if i wanted the blood work done as part of my FREE check up.
