filter question

I am about to purchase some whatman syringe filters. Do the filters themselves need to be sterile.

here are the details of the filters listed on the web site

Filter 1
Whatman 25 MM, PVDF Membrane, .20u pore size, sterile syringe filter.

Filter 2
Contain a unique prefiltration stack of Whatman multigrade GMF 150 (10:1 um) and Grade GF/F (0.7 um) prefilters. Final filter has a 0.2 um filter pore and PVDF (PolyVinyliDene Fluoride) membrane. Whatman® 25 mm GD/X syringe filters are non-sterile. Whatman Syringe Filters work well with the Cornwall fluid dispensing syringe.

It looks like they are both using the same type of filter membrane however one is sterile and the other isn't.

Does this matter. Cause I am planning on ordering a lot of these and the one listed as non-sterile is about 1.25 cheaper per filter.

all help appreciated...

Its better to use the sterile filter, but I have used the non sterile one before. I ran a couple of cc of benzyl alcohol through the non sterile filter and flushed with sterile oil before filtering my product.
