Bf % for bulking

in your opinions what is the proper bf percentage to start a bulking cycle? I'm right now about 12% I will be getting ready
in a month for a competition I have in feb 2018, I will stay on 12% all this months and depending on your opinions I will get it down or up before start bulking.
 
I think 10-12% is decent for bulking. That gives you some room to grow. Just don't get sloppy with the diet and end up at 18% from 12%.
 
8-12% is best. The body grows best in a lean state.

Also, bulking at a high body fat percentage becomes counter productive. The higher your body fat percentage, the most testosterone will aromatize into estrogen and the worse your muscle insulin sensitivity.
