From a strickly technical sense, I would think more may enter your bloodstream rectally. I personally think DMSO is nasty but much better than the alternative.
I have also heard of people grinding them up and snorting them like cocaine. One pellet or so a day. The volume of the pellet is not much, so it would prob be tolerable. It would make circulation this way but I'm not sure how pleasant the whole process would be. It's possible it could be painful. Don't know and haven't tried.
