Download mIRC (do a searh for "mIRC download"), install it, log on to an IRC server in your state (search under "IRC server list") and "/join #gear" piece of cake. Posting to this board is more complicated once you're set up.
Sounds like a great idea please make some follow up posts to let people know if its all going to come together and the address.
