: : You asked a couple days what amounts of pyruvate I'm taking...sorry if my response ends up being too long. I started out using MedPro's MP Force product. Two caps had 710 mgs of pyruvate along with 125 mg arginine, 125 mg lysine...there's some sodium and calcium in there, 66 and 31 mg respectively, as it's a naturally occuring biproduct of pyruvate (I guess since it's calcium/sodium pyruvate). Couple of problems: #1- why they put the two aminos in there is not understood and to me only serves to jack up the price. #2-to get the original 5 gram dose I had to take 14-15 capsules a day. Great, a f***ing $50.00 bottle of product lasts around two weeks or less (too early to do the math!). Since I went ahead, bit the bullet and had gotten a dozen bottles (they sold it to me for $44.00/bottle...wooooo), I started taking enough caps to get around 8-9 grams of pyruvate a day. That's too many pills and too expensive but I went ahead and did it to see if I'd get better results which I did. That's when I started making calls to people I knew who might have access to bulk qtys without all the other shit in there that I didn't need. I think I'll be a much happier guy when Unique has it available in bulk because I have no doubt that it'll work even better in larger amounts and without such a high investment. If you were to use it I think that's the route I'd go because I believe you'd see a better result for your investment and it'll probably be so much less effective than some of the stuff I am guessing you're using or have used. What I mean is that using 5 grams a day is going to seem like nothing compared to other things you've used and it's not worth the dough. I'll be using 10 grams a day or more when it's available in large qtys and that's what I'd suggest trying. Definitely go with Unique. Have a good one.

: Steve, where did you get the product and do you ride bikes competitavly?
I got MedPro's MP Force directly from the company @ 1-800-356-5644. Check out Unique's and 3-4-5's company Mass Quantities. The website address is listed in a post below somewhere. Prolab also makes a pyruvate product but it has all sorts of shit in there you probably take anyway. I am a competitive bike racer. I do primarily ultra distance races (stuff 200 miles or longer). I have officially finished the Race Across America (RAAM) twice, and have done various other long distance races. This year I won't compete in RAAM but am planning to do an Idaho north to south record attempt (the governing body of Ultra Cycling recognizes state border to border recrds longer than 200 miles. That'll be 730+ miles which I hope to do in around two days (48 hours or so) even. I'm not sure if I can do it non stop or if I'll have to take a short sleep break (during which the clock keeps running...that's part of what makes these types of races so hard). In October I plan on competing in the Furnace Creek 508, a 510 mile race through Death Valley that I won a couple years ago. In between it'll be the usual 200 mile rides/races in California.
BTW: I follow and read the posts on this board even though I'm an endurance athlete because I do a lot of weight training (in the winter especially) and I've learned a lot from various contributors here. At 5'10", 180+ lbs I'm not the typical long distance athlete, and since I love to lift, I enjoy following the posts on this forum. Besides, some of these guys are bust me up, some of the posts are so f***ing funny at times.
