From my experience, and anecdotal reports on the net
and elsewhere, it seems that HMB may help increase
strength, but may actually inhibit growth! At
best, it might increase "density", but only after
many months of use.

I speculate that it does have some effect on the
natural protein breakdown/repair cycle, but in
such a way that may actually be detrimental to
growth of individual fibers. Just from my own
experience, I speculate that after many months
of HMB supplementation, muscle fibers may
increase in number and decrease in average size.
That might explain the increase in visible "density"
and notable strength increase without much change
in size or body weight.

I haven't attempted a serious cutting cycle with it,
but if the above is correct HMB might have a good use
in retaining mass during a cutting cycle.

This is entirely speculative!
