Somebody emailed me some info on why it would be better to mail stuff
by first class rather than by a mail service. The pluses were that they have
a huge volume to go through at customs and they need a search warrant to
look at your packages. While that may be true, If you don't think
customs is sitting on the mail line with a pocketful of search warrants
you're goofy. You think they look at a package and pull and then go call a judge
to ask if it is ok, c'mon. Even if they come to your house like a crack bust
they yell 'search warrant' after they break your door down! Even if they
don't have a warrant and you let them in i.e. (open your door, don't do it if
cops are out there! Talk to them through the door!) Once you open the door
and they get suspicious one of the cops can stay and the other can go back
and get a warrant. They get a warrant 'AFTER' they open it if that's is even
true!
Another part stated that customs can open any private mail carriers' letters
anytime they want without a search warrant. That may be true, but if they were
doing this I think they would have a hell of a lot of law suits on their handss
for opening 'confidential' legitimate business correspondence. Furthermore,
these companies usually have a guarantee on service delivery. I don't think
customs is going to be able to sit on a load for a couple days because that
would void the carriers contract and they would be sued.
Now I'm not ripping the guy that sent me this or anything, but I'm just trying
to explain the merits of using either service. If all you ship are 'b-12',
they aren't going to stop and send it to a lab.
Let the discussion begin.
Anarchy in the USA!
