First, do you do as many sets and reps as you do on squats? I started to do them the other day and it seems to me that I had a much harder time doing them.
Second, should I start at about the same weight as I do on squats, or more or less?
Third, I found a website that said that you could do them with the bar or dumbells. Which do you think is best.
Any input would be helpful.
Oh by the way, I have upped my protein intake, and my food intake. I am doing my best to take your advice and eat more times than I do a day. I am eating a little here a little there, but I am always putting in high protein foods.
Thanks for everything.||205.188.199.29||reg|| Z||000001||Iron God||12-29-2000||08:29 PM||irongod@hushmail.com||Great exercise. How much can you DL and squat?

Then I can give you a routine based on the weights you do?

Also great to hear your eating proper.

As of now, I squat fity pounds, as you probably know 25 lbs. on each side. But I am thinking I need to go a little bit lighter because I don't feel that I am going deep enough on them. So I think I am going to go back to 20 until I feel that I am doing them properly.
I am doing five sets of squats, but two of them are warm ups. The other three are working sets.
Thanks. Can't wait to hear what you have for me.

Remeber to SQUEEZE you glutes on the up and get a full stretch(I bring it to my ankles)and keep your form tight and knees loose (not locked and not bent)and do not bow your lower back. I would do these last on your Hamstring routine after you a have pre-fatigued the muscle.

Grasshopper, never be embarrassed by the weight you start with. The point, is that you have started.

I tried using the dumbells the other day, and thought, there has got to be a better way than this. Well, I had some other thoughts too, but I will not post those.
Anyway, the reason I am thinking of lowering the weights is because yes, I felt exhilerated that I could even do some of the weight that I had added, but I didn't feel the soreness compared to when I first started, so I believe that I was and am not going deep enough or working the muscle enough. I am not saying that I enjoyed not being able to walk normally for three days at first, but I do know that if there is no soreness, I have not done what I inteded to do and the result is wasted time in the gym.
Yes, I am a beginner, and would like to be able to put all the weights on to look impressive, but that is not my goal. I am not vain enough to want people to see how strong I am to side step my goal. My goal is to change the shape of my body, and if that means lowering the weight to do so, that is what I am going to do.
All that rambling, in order just to say thanks for your help and taking your time to share your knowledge with me.
And Warlobo, thank you for the encouragement.
Have a great day.||205.188.199.34||reg|| Z||000006||TEXASAMM'S GURL||12-30-2000||02:45 PM||texasamms_gurl@hotmail.com||Well, I am home now from my workout and my legs feel like jello, but it is done.
Thank you for the information you shared with me.
I did three sets, but today I only did the bar, ten, and then fifteen lbs. TEXASAMM was there, and he said that I needed to get the form down first.
Let me tell you though, the stifflegged deadlift looks easy when someone who knows what they are doing is doing it, but when you try to do it, even with what little weight I did today, it is HARD. I was really breathing hard on the last two sets.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you and thank you to TEXASAMM for helping me today. That meant alot to me. ||205.188.199.151||reg||
