I can't do pushups or flat benching. I'm wondering if I work around the chest and do incline presses that the rest of the chest will catch up. Also, what is the best excercise for breaking up rhomboid scar tissue?

I would actuall recommend massage therapy for that. Can you give me some more information about the injury? I'm assuming that your chest is lagging and you ultimately want to build the strength back up through the chest and upper back?

My ribs were moved to the upper left quadrant of my torso. My third rib used to pop out. It still does if I do any straight on pushing. I can do incline and decline. I can even pull straight on but the pushing is out. At first the doctors said my muscles were too big so I let them go for awhile. Now they say I need to do more to stabilize the ribs and keep my shoulders up and back. The only thing the docs said about the scar tissue was to get blood flowing into the rohmboid and that would help with the healing. The main problem was this injury was not treated for one year due to military incompetance. Stuff like I did this myself and not that I was attacked by someone. It's just a chronic problem and I want to stabilize my ribs.

What about the arched motion you get with flies? Theoretically, you could rotate through the entire range from 0 to 90 degrees doing flies to emphasize the complete muscle from top to bottom. I like cables and the pec deck. On the cables, I combine the bent-over fly (high cables) with a standing fly (cables low) bringing the handles up to the height of my nose in a hyperbolic arc.
Regardless, it doesn't have the same push vector
