I feel like I'm going to fall over and I can't keep my back straight. If I put some time of lift under my heels (a few inches) it stops this and I can go deeper. But I don't know if this is a good idea? am I doing it properly then?||205.188.195.201||reg|| Z||000001||Iron God||11-02-2000||03:39 PM||irongod@hushmail.com||You need to work on your flexibility.

Ankles and lower back need to be flexible.

I see a tendency for alot of people to lean forward when sqauting.

What helps me is sitting in a squat postion when watching TV or playing video games. Really loosens up my quads, ankle and lower back.

(wide stance) This is a much safe starting point and helps them condition thier mind and body to these intence whole body lifts.

However, Im very "vertically challenged" (as in, really short)...would that have anything to do with the fact that I dont have a problem with them?

My BF has long legs and looks like an unbalanced stork when he does them...his knees all cave in, he gets all penguin toed...looks ridiculous and Im sure its not good for him, but no matter what I tell him he still can't get it.

Are short legs better suited than long legs?||205.210.127.50||reg|| Z||000007||freak daddy||11-03-2000||05:27 PM||brycedaddy@angelfire.com|| most definetly kat. you dont see any 6foot5 powerlifters holding any world records. they have way further to push that weight than say you or i. thats why i love being shorter!!!! i dont know why i'm on the womans board, i guess i'm just being open minded.

My training partner who is taller and longer legged has the same problem with her knees bending in...wider stance helped her a lot.||216.244.32.147||reg|| Z||000009||litl warrior||11-04-2000||04:48 PM||litlwarrior@hotmail.com||When squatting, always look up. This helps to keep balance which may be part of your problem. Don't look in the mirror or you will fall over. Definetly start with lighter weight until you've got the form down. ||32.101.64.104||reg||
