This is my first post but I have been reading the board for about 3 months. I finally raised enough nerve to ask about something I can't seem to figure out. I have been taking thermogenics off and on for aout 2 years. When I go off of them as the bottle suggests to cycle them, I seem to gain weight and retain water. For the past year, when it is time to start another cycle or I change brands, they don't seem to work for me. I've tried several brands but have been so frustrated, I haven't used any in 6 weeks. Right now I am looking into Lipokenetics and Guggle together. Is it possible that my body is at a point that they are not going to work for me anymore? Also, I have heard that some people have just 'ballooned' when they go off of them because of their thyriod shutting down or something of that nature. That scares me-I'm freaking out over the 15 lbs. I have put on over the last year. I can't stand to look at it anymore and want rid of it-my b/f is higher too but haven't had it tested in 14 mos. Any answers/suggestions/advise if GREATLY appreciated.

15lbs..How is your diet when you come off??

Did you continue cardio after stopping??

Maybe you were so depleted that your muscle just filled out.

Also try increasing your dosage, plus after awhile your body becomes conditioned to the effects so you won’t get the jitters, that doesn’t mean its thermogenic properties have been diminished.

My diet has stayed pretty clean-the only thing that isn't is my beer, but I drink that even when I am on the thermos. I know-BAD! I can give it up if it is causing my down fall.

My cardio isn't as often as it use to be granted but I was advised to back off some. I used to do cardio for 45-60 minutes then train 5-6 days/wk . Now I do cardio for 30-45 minutes then train 3-4 days/wk.

I am 5'7 and 135lbs. I was probably too thin at 120 lbs but I was solid and my b/f was 11%. I know that I shouldn't worry so much about the #lbs on the scale but my b/f has really increased so much that I have no definition on my legs and butt anymore and my 6-pack is bearly noticable. I've got to be doing something wrong. I didn't use to eat anything after 5:30pm or eat 5 small meals a day-now I do so that is a change too.

You've backed off the cardio and are now eating later in the evening (and more calories??). And if your body has been exposed to thermos for years then you will almost certainly need more than you used to to get the same effect.

I would suggest that you get your thyroid checked to see if that's the problem. If that's OK, then you need to get strict with your diet and cardio, increase your dose of thermogenics (maybe try Clenbuterol?) and work that body of yours. The other consideration is too much dieting. Have you been low carb/ low calorie dieting for years? If you're not eating enough for too long, your body will decrease metabolism, ensuring you don't lose anymore fat.

Oh, and get your %bf checked. It will help you to determine how much of that 15 lbs is water and how much is fat.||139.80.64.4||reg|| Z||000004||wantithard||10-10-2000||03:49 PM||ultimatebitchgoddess@yahoo.com||Yeah, you're probably right. I'll try increasing my cardio again to see if that does the trick. I pulled the suggestion for clen-I might try that. My boyfriend uses Clen once in a while and it works for him. I've just always been afraid of using it cuz while he loses inches in his waist, he tells me he gains size.?? Is this true on what Clen does?

I had been on a low carb(besides the beer)-low cal 'diet' for about 10 years. About a year ago is when I started eating 5-6 small meals a day-for the most part anyway. I need to re-analyse my diet and see if I am taking in more than I think. Thanks for the advise MS. I guess I needed alittle shove to get me going in the right direction.

Alot of what I used to do to stay in shape the way I used to is supposedly not good for me so I started doing what my boyfriend said and it just seems my body hasn't adjusted maybe because of the 'bad' habits I had. I just need to get off my ass and do what I need to do. ||4.4.160.110||reg|| Z||000005||MS||10-10-2000||06:40 PM||mad.scientist55@hushmail.com||Hmmmmmm, interesting. 10 years of 'dieting' is not ideal! I use the word dieting as distinct from watching your diet. It really may be that your body can no longer be fooled with low cal dieting. I don't know. I hope you have cheat meals and such regularly. It really is asking a lot of your body to always operate on reduced calories. If you don't have breaks from dieting you're body will just get to a stage where it actually stores MORE fat than if you gave it what it needs. Just something to seriously consider. Good luck with your fatloss goals.

Oh, I almost forgot, the clen will not make you bigger. But it will only work for a couple of weeks at which stage you need to cycle off of it for 2-4 weeks. And if you're retaining water you should try your hardest to cut all sodium (other than what naturally occurs in whole foods)from your diet and drown yourself with water. ||139.80.64.4||reg|| Z||000006||wantithard||10-10-2000||07:10 PM||ultimatebitchgoddess@yahoo.com||That is probably my BIGGEST down fall is my 'diet'. I didn't consume many calories while I watched what I ate and my metabolism probably isn't up to par. But how long does it take to kick-start it per say? Seriously, my diet for all those years consisted of:

Breakfast:
Protein shake w/ skim milk
Many Vitamins

Snack:
Power Bar
Grapefruit Juice
Ripped Fuel(or simular)

Lunch:
Salad w/chicken breast
Low-cal dressing

Dinner:
ex:Small portion of pasta
1/2 turkey meatball
or
just a chicken breast

Can you advise me down to specifics on a Clen cycle?

Thank you SO much for your help-I need some outside advise-I'm really down about all of this. It's like I have no idea what to do-I know I am not stupid, but I've lost all focus. My boyfriend does nothing but critisize. I can take CONSTRUCTIVE critisizm VERY well, I learn from it.||4.54.237.133||reg|| Z||000007||MS||10-11-2000||03:14 PM||mad.scientist55@hushmail.com||OK. I can understand why you're down. But I think you can get back on track by taking a deep breath and changing your approach to diet and exercize. This may be psychologically difficult but necessary to get you going again.

First of all, I would really like you to get a full panel thyroid test. If you have reduced thyroid function then it is a simple matter for the doc to put you on a course of thyroid replacement to get you up and running again. Your thyroid may be fine but it helps to know. Second, I think you should try a zig-zag approach to your diet. This would involve eating medium-carb/high protein diet for 5 days each week, then switching over to a high carb diet for 2 days each week.

The diet would look something like this:

Monday to Friday, 1600-1700 calories divided into 5-6 meals, with 30%carbs, 50% protein and 20% fat (get some flax seed oil if you haven't already got some). Cardio in the morning if possible, and weight training whenever it fits your schedule. Do you currently do your weights straight after cardio? It kinda sounded like that from what you wrote. If so, I assume it's because you only get to the gym once a day. In that case, you should weight train first, then finish with cardio. Otherwise ignore this.

Saturday and Sunday, 2400-2500 calories divided into 5-6 meals, with 70% carbs,25% protein and as little fat as you can manage. Avoid cardio and weight training on these 2 days. You may find it hard to eat this much at first since you're not used to it, but do your best to eat as close to this plan as you can. It's very important if you want to get your metabolism revved up. DO NOT obsess about getting fat on your high calorie days. And definitely DO NOT go anywhere near a set of scales!

Oh, and move your starchy carbs (pasta, etc...) to the first 3 meals of the day, and just eat fibrous veggies and protein for your last 2 meals.

Have you read WarLobo's post on Clenbuterol?? That should answer your questions about how to cycle the clen. If not, it's a worthwhile read.

I am going to do exactly as you say. Starting off with a thyriod test and %b/f test. I will let you know what I find out.||4.54.183.158||reg|| Z||000009||AZ Trainer||10-20-2000||05:24 PM||fiedor@hotmail.com||Hi WIH,
Jusy wanted to say hi to another lifter from my neck of the woods...

Personally, I am against using thermogenics, especially for anything longer than a short term (less than 4 week period). Also since you havent seen any results from them lately, I think that is a good sign they arent doing much for you anyway.
The problem with supplements is they are mainly synthetic and shouldn't replace food. As of yet there is not any strict regulation by the USRDA, so manufacturers can make all sorts of claim, without any long term research. Do you realize this country spent $31 billion on supplements last year... is it just me, or does that seem insane?
My advice is follow MS's nutritional plan, up the cardio some and just keep at it.

Guess I am kind of old school that way!!!

I hear what you are saying-$31 billion is absolutely insane! Not to mention all the hype that is behind alot of that stuff.
I've been trying MS's advice. I have lost 5lbs. I'm already noticing a change in my legs-not much anywhere else, but I have to give it time and alittle more effort. I don't want to be thick-just hard, defined, and stronger.
Thanks for the advise and for dropping a line! There is nothing wrong with being kinda 'old school' so please-keep it flowing-Keep in touch-||4.54.183.247||reg|| Z||000011||AZ Trainer||10-21-2000||05:10 AM||fiedor@hotmail.com||Glad to hear you are responding, WIH!
I am in Scottsdale myself, and taking a class at ASU this semester, so I am down in Tempe a couple times a week...

If you need a training partner let me know

I need a little motivation... I switched professions (I was a personal trainer for 8 years), and since I transitioned the past few months, I have lost my focus on training a little (post excessive-gym inhabitance recovery? LOL)

So I hear you on your goals... I have plenty of size, but just need to sculpt it back into shape... and no, I will pass on the thermogenics <wink>

Good luck in your training... talk to you soon

It's easy to lose focus while in transmition-been there too many times over the last year. I'm to the point now where I feel guilty over it. I know though the only way to get back in the swing of things and regain what I had is to get off my butt and do it. Which is what I am trying to do now.
This board has really helped me regain my focus and confidence. I love everyone here. I read the board for 3 mos before participating so I've followed many of these wonderfully, intelligent people for a while.-
Well, if you would like, you may e-mail me at my address that is in my profile, also.-
Ciao! ||4.4.160.67||reg|| Z||000013||AZ Trainer||10-21-2000||06:46 PM||fiedor@hotmail.com||That is rather ironic!

Maybe I pass you on the freeway going to ASU! LOL

After seeing your email address, I am not sure if I should have offered to be your training partner!!! JK

I will email you sometime soon... take care
