I started with squats and did relatively low weight and did only five minutes now I am crippled. I should have gone lighter. He he. I think I may have counted to around 6o reps--Full range of motion, no explosive movements--and then was sucking wind so hard I couldn't count. Then I did leg press the same way, followed by lying leg curls and finally leg extensions.

Today was cardio for me 20 minutes on the stair climber and 20 minutes on the recumbent bike. Ouch! Hurts to squat down on the toilet. Definitely think this is a good workout to throw in once in awhile. It's reminiscent of your first leg workout when you do too much after not training for a while. I like it feels like muscle growth!

Thanks War Lobo for the pain of it all-- ||152.163.201.199||reg|| Z||000001||skydancer||06-19-2000||05:43 PM||skydancer43@hotmail.com||ha ha - don't you just love that feeling...you are drinking so much water you have to run to the bathroom all the time and then it HURTS to sit down. *chuckle* How much were you using to the timed squats? Lord, now I'm going to have to try it. We must be some sort of sick to like pain. ||216.244.31.62||reg|| Z||000002||riptchick||06-19-2000||05:53 PM||||Just quarters. At the end though I was taking big pauses at the top to get my breath and making a real spectacle of myself--haha. People in the gym must have thought I was a real weakling by the way I was crying. I imagine it will be easier the next time I try it. My boyfriend said it was because I'm just not used to that rep range. I would have probably been grunting with less weight too. I hate to do cardio to begin with so my body was shaking pretty hard after the workout. I suspect this is EXACTLY what I need to rid myself of the last of the lower bodyfat.

Yea, we're sick aren't we skydancer. I like the feeling of pain because then I know I accomplished something. Try it and let me know how it worked for you. ||152.163.201.194||reg|| Z||000003||WarLobo||06-19-2000||06:00 PM||warlobo@operamail.com||Very impressed RiptChick. Really makes me feel good when someone actually tries a suggestion that is new and different. (well not so new...) We have so many muscles in our body that need to be hit from all angles and by different methodes. We all to often get caught in a deep rut doing the same thing over and over. This last three weeks I have once again started to do my "dumbell carry from hell" routien. On my dead/back days I start my workout with the 80lbs dumbells and carry them up and back down a flight of stairs (just happen to have a two story gym). Each set I increase 10lbs so my second set is with the 90lbs dumbelss. By the time I get to the 120's I am fricking warmed up! Or dead... This is a full body, air sucking, heart pounding exercise that will make you run for the motrin the next day if you have never done these. I do use straps for safety as it would not be cool to drop them down the stairs!

Late

These suck the air out of you as well. I bet the stairs ones really hurt. I'm gonna have to do these again sometime too as I have forgotten about them--thanks for reminding me.||205.188.200.199||reg|| Z||000005||bikinimom||06-20-2000||11:13 PM||bikinimom@home.com||I've not hit my legs yet this week and I must I am psyched! ||129.80.22.140||reg|| Z||000012||riptchick||06-24-2000||08:56 PM||||Yeah, I did squats first--no explosive movements--much lighter weight of course, and kept a nice strict form for every single squat. I thought that I would be able to do 10 minutes but no way. I'm lucky I got five minutes (I was overestimating myself on the amount of weight). I did the same with leg press, hamstring curls and leg extensions. Since it was the first time I tried it I only did a warm-up and then the one set of 60 or so per exercise--pain made me lose count ha ha. That rep range creates its own kind of pain--especially if you are used to doing straight sets etc. I hurt pretty bad all with just that one monster set. Next time I do that I will try to increase the time, number of reps etc. Keep those quads, glutes and hams guessing.....I really liked it and I would say its probably a great thing to do if you hit a plateau with your normal routine or like a bit of cardio mixed in with your weight training.||152.163.201.178||reg||
