I was told I was eating entirely too much protein. (I never asked for his advice anyway.) I was always taught that one to two grams of protein per pound of lean body mass was acceptable. I weigh 144 now and am about 15% bodyfat. Accordingly, I eat about 170 grams of protein. (I'm far from any expert so take anything I say with a grain of salt) but you wouldn't be losing any muscle if you're dieting properly anyway. The whole idea is to support the muscle and leave room for growth and use up the remaining fat stores.
