How often are you supposed to take a layoff? From what I understand this is a good thing, but what is a common interval??

Breaks dictate themselves in my case. Sometimes I just push harder than others and there's always those other factors that I have no control over like work and such. My last break lasted 3 weeks and that's the longest one I've taken.

I've kind of gotten used to listening to the old bones and try to put in a break hear and there. Mostly the long breaks (one week or so) come when I go on vacation. If I travel back home, take a long weekend or what not. This usually makes up the majority of the time off. During a cycle I will try to get a nice three day break now and then. This kind of stuff is sooooo subjective, it's almost impossible to give a hard and fast rule. I realize this is not much help, but with some more discussion may be we can get a little better at telling ourselves it is in our own best interest to let the body recover - and grow!
