After I finished my shoulder workout on Monday my traps felt stiffer than usual, and about an hour later I couldnt move my neck for the pain.
Absolutely agonizing..I was crying it was so bad...havent slept for two days. When I get up I cant move it at all for the pain, and then I'll take an aspirin and it will abate for a while. By the end of the day Im in agony again.

I tried hot water bottles, nothing. Every time I move my neck I hear clicking sounds and now my collarbone hurts too.

How the hell could I have done this on shoulder day? i finished off with my extra heavy shrugs like usual....thought I stretched properly etc.

Has this ever happend to anyone and do you know what caused it?

You probably turned your head while under tension and pulled a muscle and strained your neck.If it is still bad in a few days go see a doc, but it most likely soft tisue damage.

Try some sports cream. They usually do the trick for me. If it doesn't heal then you better see a doc

Sounds like a pinched nerve or something. Get it checked out before it gets worse!

Actually, now that I think about it, youre right IG...the music had stopped and I had literally just finished and had turned to put the weights back in their spot and the phone startled me. I did crank my neck when that happened....dammmit.

Kat_

get in to a doctor and get it checked...did something similar last summer and I'm still recovering...it turned out to be a protruding disk which was misdiagnosed because they did not do an mri right away...and I did it playing rugby...argue for an mri no matter what..had they gotten it right off the bat I wouldn't have teh problems i have now... I had to be a "hysterical" woman to get the right treatment... Do you by chance have loose ligaments? You can tell this by bending your thumb forward toward your wrist does it touch or get close? if so they are pretty supple...women tend to have loose ligaments due to reproductive needs... the ligaments along the spine hold the vertebrae in line they get stretched and it give the disks room to move....

sounds like when I throw out a rib, and unless snapped back in can knock me out of the game for months. ...in other words, I'm with the rest on this one: go get it checked out.

Sounds like the same thing I get repeatedly if I don't concentrate being careful. I get mine from Shruggs mainly but also can do it with Overhead press's. Hurts like HELL. I think it's a pulled muscle pinched nerve combination.

Toradol gets rid of it after a couple of days. (powerful antiflame.) Codine makes it feel better but won't get rid of it.
