I know it must seem a litle out of place in a bodybuilding board, but I figured out you guys must know a lot about suplementation and migth have a clearer view of what I I should look for.

My main goals are speed, power and flexibility, as those are more important in my training than sheer muscle volume.

I tought that maybe a litle creatine and some BCAAs might be enough. What's you opinion on that subject? Would you suggest any other produtct or combinations?

I'm not interested in anabolic steroids or Testosterone precessors.

Thank you very much for your input in this subject.

I would say creatine and protein. do not use any thermogenics (it will negatively affect flexability and power through loss of water retention) if you want to use something for "energy" try MCT's. other than that a good diet and a multi-vitamin should be all you need.

oh, almost forgot: flax seed oil!

I fight too and I think the best supplements specific to grappling are 1.) the creatine w/glycerol, it really helps my muscular endurance, and it avoids the dehydration from plain creatine, WAY better than any other creatine ive tried . and 2.) glutamine- really helps u recover so u can train again sooner! also, since youre always working your lungs and muscle endurance when u roll, when u lift, lift really heavy for low reps. doing high reps is worthless for us because sparring is exactly like high reps, so u even it out. where do u train? one of the major academies?||63.255.19.199||reg|| Z||000004||andrebrazil||12-15-2000||08:51 AM||andrerchaves@hotmail.com||Hi nhbking

Thank you very much for your tip in choosing the kind of creatine I must look for. I bougth a creatine that is said to be speacilly developed and packaged for long duration execises (Twin Lab) and I'll check if it contains the composition you mentioned.

What I am practicing is not Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but Krav Maga instead, so I have basically stoped lifting wheights. I was feeling that my muscles were getting slow and in Krav Maga reaction time is crucial.

The average Krav Maga practicioner tends to be lean and muscular due to lots of aerobic work (resistance in Krav Maga is given the same importance as technique since in a fight for your life the concept of Hit and Run is specially valuable). We do a LOT of push ups and Heavy bag work.

Krav Maga is not your typical Martial art as it is better described as a practical self defense system intended to get you out of trouble in the shortest possible time. A typial "encounter" will not last more than a few seconds as you are really ment to badly hurt your agressor (that's why it's not a sport and there are no competitions). It is said that it is really a very good complement to grapling stiles. You can find info about it at www.kravmaga.com .

Do you have any ideas on how to improve punch power through wight lifting. If so please let me know.

Best regards

To increase punch speed try throwing some combinations with a small db in your hands or very heavy gloves 24oz+.||195.102.185.226||reg|| Z||000006||nhbking||12-15-2000||04:10 PM||nhbking@hushmail.com||isnt krav maga what Bas Rutten does? I know Ive heard of it. about boxing power, the bags are what really help, but in general do extra work for your shoulders, chest and tris. (if u can. I usually cant do shoulders cause they get worked so much from keeping your hands up the whole time youre training)||63.255.18.240||reg|| Z||000007||BarbarianHorde||12-19-2000||07:54 PM||son_of_odin99@hushmail.com||nhbking beat me to the punch here (grrrrrrrrroooooaaaaaaaannnnnnn at that pun)
creatine and glycerol is a brilliant combination, although i'm a lucky person who respond very well to creatine. i have never even had a hint of cramps using glycerol.

who advocated using weighted punches? shame on you! that's a fantastic way to ruin your technique. stick to traditional low rep weight training, and read the myodynamics website
