BMJ||08-15-2000||05:00 AM||mrbm32@hotmail.com||I noticed on a recent post that you majored in "Microbial Physiology" and "Molecular bio/microbiology." Well, I need some of your expert advise here (if it's possible). My EX-girlfriend was cheating on me, and not too long after the last time we kissed, my lymph nodes (neck) were really swollen. This was about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Along with this came a fever and weakness. Well the past week I started getting a severe sore throat (really bad), and yesterday I had to go to ER because the pain was so bad. As you probably know, I was diagnosed with Mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr Virus), and also as you probably know, no medication can be given for treatment since it is a form of the herpes virus. The only meds that I were prescribed are Vicodin and Viscuous Lidocain for the pain in my throat. So Finally, after all this explaining, what can I do to cure/speed this shit up. I am seriously hurting (especially my throat). Is there anything I can do here to make things better? If you can give any reply I would seriously be in debt to you man, thanks.

P.S. I am taking antioxidants like ALA, Vitamin C and E, and thinking of getting something like pycnogenol if it will help. Also, I am still trying to eat good here, but my throat hurts so bad that I basically can only drink protein drinks and other liquids. ||152.163.207.178||reg|| Z||000001||MR. I wish I could
help more but you got a bastard of a virus. I don't have a lot of experience
with clinical micro, as I am involved in work on food-borne pathogens, but EB
virus therapy is mostly supportive. One thing I found is that one should not
do any heavy activity (as if one with Mono feels like it anyway), due to
possibility of splenic rupture.

Your supplements look good. Since EB attacks the B-lymphocytes, activating
the immune system may activate infected cells, furthering the infection, but
this is only hypothesis. Who knows, it may decrease length of condition by
activating non-infected cells which would kill infected cells. Acyclovir
(Zovirax) has been used, but it did not change length of condition.

Again, sorry I don't have more info.

I guess I'll continue to keep it easy for another week or two, just to be on the safe side. Cause God knows I do not want a reoccurence of this crap. I plan on seeing my doctor tomorrow or some time this week also. Again, thanks for replying man.||152.163.207.201||reg||
