I used to take these vitamins seperated and felt nothing special but them I switched to z-mass and I put on some quality muscle and my recovery is alot quicker and I have also gotten more definition and also sleep better at night. maybe the reason is bcause of the other 2 ingredients in z-mass but I can't tell. But what I can say right now is that taking zink, magnesium, and b6 is deffinetelly not the same thing as taking z-mass not even close in fact.. Okay let's go back to some basic science here first.
ZMA is Zinc, Magnesium, Aspartate NOT Aspartame....big difference.
Why ZMA instead of your regular Zinc and Magnesium drug store brand supplement? Well for starters, regular drug store stuff always contains CALCIUM (calcuim is always used as a binder for the other minerals) which actually blocks the apsorption of zinc by about 70%. So buying one of these supplements will do fuck all for you.
ZMA does work however it's foolish to try and dupicate it with drug store minerals which are 20 years behind in binding technology.
However ZMASS is shit. Why bother with it. Why pay so much for a couple of minerals Just take Zinc if you think you are deficient. I use Acetabolan-II. It has ZMA, plus Tribulus Terristris and N-Acetyl-Cysteine. (and Vitamin C). A far better formula if you ask me......and chances are you'll feel it work for you more, and notice higher libido than you would with Zmass or ZMA. I think it helps with high cortisol levels that rise during training. Rather than take it before bed I take it just before I train.
just my 2 cents....but save your $$ on Zmass pm...and just buy straight zinc. Your daily multivitamin will take care of the magnesium

I have read a fair amount of medical literature on ZMA. Note ZMA is not a proprietary supplement. Biotest do not have the rights to the ingredients. Biotest charge about £24 ($35-40) yet at a gnc store you can get it from twinlabs for about £11 ($16-19). The supplement is not to bad for a zinc supplement which is what it is like Terribuls another supplement relabel and overcharged. My best supplements would be Glutamine (good stuff) Creatine (ok for water leverage strength) and Anabol (amazing at what you get at the local GNC, almost as good as roids, he..he...)
