I've never personally heard of a bodybuilder bribing a judge to get ahead. This isn't to say that it's never happened.....I just don't think that it goes on much in the United States. However, it appears as if bribing bodybuilding judges is a little more commonplace in Asia after Chan Yun-to tried to bribe judges at the Doha Asian Games.<\/p>\n
In a disgraceful display, Yun-to gave $10,000 to Paul Chua (Secretary-general of the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) so Chua would let him in the 165-pound class; Yun-to failed a drug test and was originally ruled ineligible. Of course, the fact that Yun-to won the 165-pound class at the Doha Games didn't help his cause because this drew lots of negative attention on him. <\/p>\n
The judge in this case took the matter very seriously (as he should have) by handing Yun-to a 16-month prison sentence for his role in the bribery case. At this time, no judges including Chua have been sentenced, but we'll have to wait and see what happens with this case.<\/p>\n
Now I'm all for juicing and trying to build your body to perfection, but if you're competing in a drug-free competition, then it's a little unfair when you are banned from competing, then bribe judges to let you into the contest. It's like being allowed to bring brass knuckles into a mixed martial arts fight.<\/p>\n
