Professional bodybuilder Scott Siegel was on top of the world after starring in \u201cThe Wrestler\u201d with Mickey Rourke in the famous steroid sale scene.\u00a0 Interestingly enough, Siegel brought his steroid sale dealer movie character to life right as he started selling massive amounts of roids to other bodybuilders in real life.\u00a0 And now he\u2019s paying for his steroid sales big-time!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"SteroidsFew of us ever get to know what it\u2019s like to be at the top of the high school hierarchy.\u00a0 This is the place where the star football player with the movie star-chiseled face and his head cheerleader girlfriend reside.\u00a0 Sure this is a little stereotypical, but it\u2019s a fact of life, and most people never get to experience what it\u2019s like to be one of the popular kids.<\/p>\n

Instead, the majority of us spend high school in an awkward phase full of acne, no muscle tone, and few (if any) girlfriends.<\/p>\n

Scott Siegel spent his high school days as one of the majority while growing up in suburban New York.\u00a0 He hated his frail body and wanted to buy steroids<\/a>, and he also hated the way other kids in school treated him, and he did not know a thing about the sale of steroids.\u00a0 In fact, Siegel would often lock himself in his bedroom during the worst bouts of depression.\u00a0 Luckily, Siegel found bodybuilding at the age of 15.<\/p>\n

Scott began working out religiously and experienced some slight muscular gains.\u00a0 However, Siegel was unsatisfied with his natural bodybuilding gains, and quickly turned to steroids the same year he started working out.\u00a0 Siegel revealed that it was a friend who got him into juicing by saying, \u201cI started working out\u2026started getting into weights. I had a friend of mine that I used to work out with\u2026.he was older than me.\u00a0 We worked out every day.\u00a0 He kept getting stronger and bigger. I was like, \u2018Wow.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott Siegel soon asked the mystery friend what his secret was; this is the point where Siegel began learning all about the world of anabolic steroid sales.\u00a0 As Siegel recalls, \u201cI think the first thing I took was methyl-testosterone.\u00a0 From there I went to Sustanon, which was from Mexico. They used to come in these pre-loaded glass syringes.\u00a0 These things were like harpoons they were so big. I was scared of needles, but after a while, you get used to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roids definitely did the trick for Siegel and his body exploded with muscle gains.\u00a0 The difference was huge and he said, \u201cWorking out on steroids, and working out naturally are like two totally different worlds. I don't care if you worked out 10 years without these drugs, you make gains in three to four weeks that you couldn't make in 10 years. You just get hooked.\u201d\u00a0 He finished his ad for roids by saying, \u201cIt's a great feeling.\u00a0 People kiss you\u2019re ass because you are big. I was a nobody... and then I was a somebody.\u201d<\/p>\n

The other high school students started kissing his ass too as Siegel went from an unpopular loner to a sociable, muscular kid with lots of friends.\u00a0 By the time Scott headed off to Iona college, he was a ripped 225 pounds who had no trouble finding bouncer gigs to earn money while attending classes.<\/p>\n

After graduating from college, Siegel continued to work as a Manhattan bouncer but he also got into steroid sales and dealing Ecstasy on the side.\u00a0 Unfortunately for Scott Siegel, this little sale of steroids side job got him in big trouble when he was busted for dealing when the DEA took down the huge Ecstasy ring.\u00a0 After being arrested with all of the other members of the Ecstasy ring, Siegel was given a two and a half year prison sentence.<\/p>\n

Done with his 30-month sentence, Siegel got out and began dedicating himself to acting.\u00a0 With his massive build, the 285-pound Scott was able to quickly find work in a Hasbro commercial.\u00a0 After the commercial, Siegel moved on to filming scenes for the hit TV shows \u201cRescue Me\u201d and \u201cThe Sopranos.\u201d\u00a0 But it wasn\u2019t until director Darren Aronofsky discovered him in a Miami club that Siegel\u2019s acting career really took off.<\/p>\n

Aronofsky recruited Siegel to play a steroid dealer in the critically acclaimed movie \u201cThe Wrestler.\u201d\u00a0 This role certainly wasn\u2019t a stretch for Siegel since he\u2019d previously been involved in illegal steroid sales, and had recently gotten back into selling steroids.\u00a0 Even still, Aronofsky told Siegel to watch the gun dealer in the movie \u201cTaxi Driver\u2019 for some extra inspiration.<\/p>\n

In the film, Mickey Rourke\u2019s character Randy \u201cThe Ram\u201d Robinson visits Scott Siegel\u2019s nameless character in a locker room; here Siegel advises Robinson on a stack he\u2019ll need before selling him the steroids.\u00a0 The role certainly didn\u2019t win Siegel any Oscars, but it did earn him plenty of respect from Rouke.<\/p>\n

In fact, Rouke went on Jimmy Kimmel Live and specifically talked about how well Siegel performed in the steroid sale scene in the movie.\u00a0 He told Kimmel, \u201cI wanted him to have the whole scene.\u00a0 I just turned my back and let him go.\u00a0 I said, \u2018You're the only dude that ever stole a scene from me.\u2019\u201d Scott Siegel was certainly on top of the world after his small, but important role.\u00a0 He was even dining with Rouke and Marissa Tomei (who also starred in The Wrestler) away from the set.\u00a0 Siegel\u2019s future looked bright as he was getting auditions from all over Hollywood too.\u00a0Here's the trailer from the film The Wrestler.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Siegel\u2019s steroid dealing character was spilling over into his real life too much, and the DEA once again had him on their radar. Unbeknownst to Siegel, they had been watching him for quite some time outside his Bronx home.\u00a0 The DEA rightly suspected that Siegel was involved in the sale of steroids on the side to make ends meet along with his acting career.\u00a0 Once the DEA had mounted a case against Scott, they raided his house along with his parents\u2019 home; inside they discovered various ID\u2019s, $70,000 in cash, and over $100,000 worth of steroids for sale.<\/p>\n

Despite his previous charge for selling Ecstasy and the large amount of steroids they found for sale in both houses, Siegel might have gotten away with a light sentence had he not decided to run from the cops when they came for him.\u00a0 As soon as Siegel saw the cops coming to arrest him, he hopped in his Cadillac Escalade and ran right through a fence.\u00a0 The hunt was on as Scott Siegel led police on a 35-minute chase that included Siegel running into cars, dodging bullets, and even being hit by a car.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned being hit by a car occurred when one of the officers ran into Siegel causing him to fly up on the windshield.\u00a0 This is pretty much where the chase ended, but Siegel wasn\u2019t quite done yet.\u00a0 He tussled with the officers while they were arresting him, which brought extra charges against him.<\/p>\n

In the end, Siegel plead guilty to two counts of assault, one drug charge, and one count of impeding officers in performance of their duties.\u00a0 He is now serving a 63-month sentence in prison.<\/p>\n

\"SteroidsUnfortunately for Scott Siegel, his troubles didn\u2019t end with the prison term though because his body took a toll too.\u00a0 The 35-year old Siegel was forced to stop juicing the night he was arrested, and quitting cold turkey after 20 years of hardcore steroid use wasn\u2019t doing his body any favors.<\/p>\n

As Siegel said, \u201cMy body just shut down the first eight months I was here.\u00a0 All I did was sleep.\u00a0 My energy level is in the toilet. I was severely depressed.\u00a0 If you want to talk about side effects, those are serious side effects.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott is still huge by any normal person\u2019s standards, but he has lost quite a bit of the muscle tone that earned him TV and movie spots.\u00a0 But that\u2019s not the only thing on his mind since Siegel his hoping for a chance at redeeming himself and contributing something to society.\u00a0 As he said, \u201cYou get knocked down in life\u2026.it\u2019s how you get up that counts.\u00a0 We'll see how it goes after this. \u00a0Right now I'm known for being a drug dealer, who played a drug dealer in a movie, who tried to run over police officers.\u00a0 It's not what I want to be known for.\u201d<\/p>\n
