{"id":3283,"date":"2014-05-13T14:32:13","date_gmt":"2015-06-06T17:28:26","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2015-06-19T13:27:04","modified_gmt":"2015-06-19T20:27:04","slug":"free-workout-routine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/articles\/free-workout-routine\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Workout Routine Productivity Tips &#8211; Top 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- thumb --><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/images\/bodybuilder\/free-workout-routine.jpg\" alt=\"Free Workout Routine\" width=\"400\" height=\"281\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"10\" \/>Everyone knows the great feeling you get when starting out on a new workout routine.\u00a0 You\u2019re pumped up when you hit the gym, you are dedicated to getting the most out of every workout, and it feels like you could continue on like this forever.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that once the initial feeling of excitement and motivation is gone it starts to become much tougher for you to remain productive when your free workout routine becomes, well, routine.<!--break--><\/p>\n<p>At this point, many people start to waste precious time at the gym by talking to others for too long, focusing more on the music they\u2019re listening to rather than on the the actual workout routine, and not squeezing out the extra reps they used to do.\u00a0 And by doing this stuff you\u2019re not only taking much longer to complete your workout routine, but you\u2019ll also be going at it with less intensity and not getting the results you desire.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it is so important to get as much as possible out of each training session you put in at the gym.\u00a0 Of course this is much easier said than done so I took the time to ask some fellow EliteFitness.com members what they do to stay sharp in the gym.\u00a0 And they helped me come up with a great list of free workout routine productivity tips and other great advice that you\u2019ll definitely want to check out!<\/p>\n<p>But first, I\u2019d like to share my own free workout routine tips on how to set yourself up for success before and during every workout.<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/b2\/secrets\/secrets-comments.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n \n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #1:<\/strong> One of the more obvious ways to improve your workout routine is by getting a personal trainer.\u00a0 Some of the bigger gyms will provide this service for a small fee (or even free) while you can always hire one if your gym doesn\u2019t have personal trainers on staff.\u00a0 Having a personal trainer is a great way to get somebody outside of yourself pushing you to get better.\u00a0 You can even seek out consultations from top bodybuilding experts and coaches such as our own <a href=\"\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/amember\/order.php?price_group=-5\" target=\"_blank\">personal trainers<\/a> at EliteFitness.com.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #2:<\/strong> I also think that it\u2019s a great idea to exercise at the same time every day that you work out.\u00a0 Not only does this give your body an equal amount of rest between each session, but it also gives you something to look forward to at a certain time of the day.\u00a0 And it makes working out a part of your routine which helps reinforce the good habit of going to the gym on a regular schedule.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #3:<\/strong> I also recommend that you take an energy supplement or two before and possibly during your workout routine.\u00a0 Any dietary supplement that gives you an energy boost should definitely be taken to ensure a quality workout. Personally, I keep my energy booster right in my gym bag.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #4:<\/strong> It\u2019s good to have some songs that pump you up playing in the background while you\u2019re training too.\u00a0 Now, as I said before, you shouldn\u2019t be playing DJ while you\u2019re in the gym, but having some pre-selected songs on your iPod or creating a fun fast-paced workout routine playlist is definitely something that will get you pumped and ready.\u00a0 Just remember, pick out the songs beforehand so you\u2019re not interrupting your free workout routine.\u00a0 Here\\'s a few links to some workout music threads on the EliteFitness.com Forums:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/forum\/music\/songs-my-new-free-workout-routine-playlist-ideas-312653.html\" target=\"_blank\">Songs for my new free workout routine playlist - ideas?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/forum\/music\/fight-songs-gym-music-playlist-460341.html\" target=\"_blank\">Fight songs gym music playlist?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/forum\/chat-conversation\/making-new-hip-hop-playlist-my-gym-workout-routine-555109.html\" target=\"_blank\">Making a new hip hop playlist for my gym workout routine...<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/\/www.elitefitness.com\/forum\/music\/help-me-build-some-free-workout-routine-playlists-439771.html\" target=\"_blank\">Help me build some free workout routine playlists<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now on to the advice that our bros at EliteFitness.com have to share!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #5:<\/strong> \u201cSouthernLord\u201d feels the best way to ensure a great workout routine is by taking the time to get a good meal in beforehand.\u00a0 He likes to eat plenty of lean protein and carbohydrates at least an hour to an hour and a half before hitting the gym.\u00a0 SouthernLord also likes to drink a carb and amino drink along with water in between sets to stay energized.\u00a0 I think he definitely makes a very valid point in that you really need to pay attention to what you\u2019re ingesting before and during a workout since many people neglect this aspect when training. There\\'s nothing worse than crashing because it was too long ago that you ate. But, be careful not to be too full when you go train either.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #6:<\/strong> \u201csweed\u201d finds that a lot of his success in his workout routine comes from proper rest in between sets and also outside of the gym.\u00a0 Following much of the advice coming from our resident expert Omega, sweed recommends that you need to keep your rest in between sets to a minimum of 1 minute, which can be longer if you\u2019re using more weight of course.\u00a0 The key here is to remain consistent so you\u2019re not wandering around the weight room and chatting with everyone.\u00a0 Another thing sweed believes in is getting 7-8 hours of rest each night so your muscles can repair and grow between workouts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #7:<\/strong> \u201cthe_alcatraz\u201d is a very early riser and likes to get up around 5 or 6 am to workout because he says this is when your free natural testosterone is at its highest.\u00a0 He also makes a good point that people haven\u2019t had time to waste energy driving, walking, talking, working, etc. this early in the morning.\u00a0 An early morning workout routine also makes it hard to make an excuse later in the day to skip the gym because something came up. Aside from working out in the early morning, he also likes to drink high energy or caffeine drinks 30 minutes before training so he has tons of energy.\u00a0 He also likes to watch bodybuilding DVD\u2019s and or pictures of bodybuilders lifting to get him motivated to do his best in the gym.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #8:<\/strong> \u201cBig_BK\u201d, who is one of the top strongman competitors in America right now, believes that having a partner is essential to a quality workout routine. It\\'s almost like having a free workout routine personal trainer.\u00a0 He says, \u201cWhen I have someone there training with me (preferably stronger or bigger than me) I have much more motivation and drive to do better and it\u2019s always nice to have someone screaming at you to get those last reps and give you a little spot to break through your comfort zone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #9:<\/strong> \u201c21gun\u201d doesn\u2019t believe a partner is as motivating as some of the other things he does to get prepared for a great training session.\u00a0 In fact, 21gun says that he\u2019s went through countless partners because they don\u2019t have the drive he does and believes that you have to dig deep inside of your own self to excel.\u00a0 To prepare he\u2019s been eating \u00be of a cup of oatmeal and a \u00bd cup of cottage cheese before workouts and has been doing this for 8 years with excellent results.\u00a0 He also watches old videos of Dorian Yates to really fire himself up for a great workout session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free Workout Routine Tip #10 :<\/strong> \u201ciggy\u201d likes to channel all of his anger and energy into his lifts to give himself that extra push.\u00a0 Besides consulting Omega on various things, iggy also likes to find a quality partner to train with just like Big_BK does.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bonus Free Workout Routine Tip #11:<\/strong> And \u201cBig Rick Rock\u201d and many other members agree with me in that you really need to take a supplement and have some good songs picked out on your iPod (or other music playing device) before you start a workout routine.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, there are lots of different ways to get motivated and prepared before you begin a training session.\u00a0 And not everyone prefers to do the same thing either as you can see with the conflicting opinions on the importance of workout partners.\u00a0 I personally prefer to workout with someone that knows what they\u2019re doing when I get the chance and I also think it\u2019s very important to prepare yourself mentally and fuel properly beforehand too.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m sure there are many things that me
